Splash Pad Re-Opening Slides Into Late July

Dear Park District of Forest Park Residents & Friends,

While it is never the type of announcement we like to make, we want to ensure our residents stay as up to date on the exciting splash pad project! Park district staff were notified on May 4 that, due to unforeseen circumstances, the new Park District of Forest Park Aquatic Center Splash Pad completion date is now planned for late July. A combination of supply issues, contractor staffing, and the unpredictable nature of the weather this spring has unfortunately caused some changes to the original timeline.

The park district staff meets bi-weekly with the general contractor and in our most recent meeting, the general contractor relayed a late July timeframe as everything currently stands. Going forward, we will be providing bi-weekly updates to our residents after these meetings, good or bad.

The good news is that our regular season operations in the pool will not be affected. Our opening day is set for Saturday, May 28, Memorial Day weekend! We’re currently prepping the facility, getting our staff trained and organized, and gearing up for summer fun!

We appreciate your patience on this major project, and we can’t wait to unveil the final “sweet” product. Our main goal is to get the project done, but more importantly, the primary goal is to get it done right! If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

ABOUT THE PARK DISTRICT

While the village has undoubtedly changed in the 85 plus years since the park district was formed, the staff and board of commissioners still remain committed to providing the community with a beautiful park, modern facilities and quality programming. The Park District of Forest Park was established by referendum and was entered into the records officially on November 14, 1934.

The Park District provides a variety of leisure activities for people of all ages throughout the year.

Park District facilities include an Administrative Building, the Roos Recreation Center, Baseball/Softball Fields (3), Batting Cages (2), Bocce Ball Courts (2), Day Camp Building, In-Line Skating Rink (Outdoor), Maintenance Garage, Outdoor Aquatic Center, Outdoor Sand Volleyball Courts (2), Playground, Soccer Field (Outdoor), Skate Park, Tennis Courts and NFC Fitness Court.

The Park District of Forest Park has cooperative agreements with local School District 91 for joint use of facilities and is a member of the West Suburban Special Recreation Association (WSSRA), an organization that provides year round programming and services for our residents with special needs.
